Gidget walked up and took the purple headset (because it matched the streak in her hair, and she was a little vain about that), staring down at the thing in her hands. She was fighting the panic, trying to breathe. She glanced towards Drake and swallowed, giving him one last nod before she joined the others in the tutorial. Her options were a bit limited. Normally, she would go with melee DPS, because that was the most fun and the most complicated. However, with as anxious as she was, she opted instead for Magical DPS. She took more time choosing her username than anything else... Anybody who spent much of any time online would recognize Gears, and she didn't want anybody to associate her or recognize her. Except Mongoose. She sat and contemplated this for a long moment, then entered her username. "ViddyD." If Mongoose was here, he'd recognize it. She hoped. Creating her Avatar was quick and easy. She chose a male avatar. Most people assumed she was male, anyway... The walk-through was simple enough, so she took the key and waited near the back of the crowd. Magical DPS were usually pretty squishy to start off with, and there was another one of the same class. Another one named Mongoose. She made her avatar wave at him and then settled in to wait for Drake. Which meant Mongoose and Drake were probably going to meet. .....maybe she didn't think this one through.

Drake went for the stylish red visor and equipped his shit as he got into position. Gidget was still feeling uncomfortable he could tell as he watched her make her settings... Alright, time to cheer her up. Drake style. He fudged the avatar settings a little to make the perfect physical set-up for what he needed to make this work... A few moments later Drake walked loaded into the world as Darlin' Clementine The Healer. Clementine smiled and bounced as she wondered around! Happy as a daisy! Then the man spoke about a key? She held out her hand and POP a green key appeared! Whoa! She really wanted to go to the shop... but it looked like the Tutorial guy wanted to go to the dungeon... BUT THE PIG IS A CUTIE!!! SO, Clementine skipped happily over to the man. "Herro! Mice to meet you Sirrrrr!" She practically purred. To the pig.

Vivi created her character without much of a thought, simply giving her avatar long purple hair, red eyes, and fair skin like her real life appearance. Having chosen magical DPS with ice as her element, she made sure to deck out herself to look really magic-y or whatever. Once she spawned in the game, she was mildly irked to see that a butt ton of other people had gone for the same class and suddenly wanted to change hers, but she decided it didn’t really matter. She’d only be checking this game out here for a little bit, if she got her own she could change it later.
There was some more talking but Vivi just spaced out until something exciting happened. Needless to say, she got bored pretty easily.

Leon was distraught over the words of those ahead of him. It was like fate had decided to kick him while he was down... Then a distraction occurred, some kid with money was tossing it around and people were pulled away, distracted. Leon use it to move up and jump in line with a smirk. ~Heh, 50.~ He made it to the test run and swiftly picked up how to control and move. Then it came time for the avatar creation point... He created his avatar and chose DPS for his class wielding a spear. He observed the VR, the world around him; the lighting and music, the ambiance... He was over whelmed with how fantastical it was until he saw the light and listened to the speech. He extended his hand and the key appeared in his own hand. The choice to do whatever you want in this game. That would be interesting. However it was down to question time and the one he was curious about was asked so he would remain silent.

Areon internally skipped up to the technicians as he got suited up skipping all the controller bullshit he slipped the visor on and immediately began building his avatar a more heroic looking version of himself obviously. He went for the Tank role and a large sword. He didn't really give a shit about the explanation or what was going on, and after he got his key he wandered to the side and swung his sword around. "HAHA this is fantastic!"

As people would load into the game with their avatars, one would probably stand out from the others as Ken's Avatar would load in at least half the size of everyone else. As for Zade trying to go through the pocket of the merchant npc he would find it was having problems with tracking so many player characters near it and he would be able to loot an item. It was a bacon shaped whistle.... Drake would find the NPC would speak back. "Welcome, get your supplies so you don't die!" There was a window with potions and magic potions. The blue haired character would turn to Zade's avatar when the question was asked and would smile. "No need to worry, unlike popular media you won't lose your memories, die in real life, or go into coma. You will be on a thirty second count down timer in a ghostly form able to observe. After 30 seconds you will respawn here and be prompted to log out." The blue haired character would approach the dimension gate and hold the key out. "Simply activate the key near the gate and you will teleport to the entry point of the dungeon the key unlocks." The blue haired avatar would wait for people to start doing that since they had no further questions. People that did would have the same visual effects and suddenly be standing in a field. Grass, lake's, tree's. Even huge monolithic structures in the distance that looked like if you walked for a little while you could reach them. There was such a realistic feeling to it some would experience a ghost sensation of feeling the breeze, but that is impossible. Obviously. "Welcome to one of the Fated Lands, known as 'The Holy Monolith Fields.'. Fated Lands are a series of dungeons that specialize in the lore of this game. Which means there is the chance of an extremely rare drop in this dungeon. A Fated Lands drop will only drop one time and whoever gets it will be the only person with that particular item, forever." He would point into the distance a large building that looked like a huge tomb would be visible. "That is your destination, where the boss of this field lives. Reach it through the monsters and traps along the way, discover, experience this world."

A white-haired avatar named ViddyD waving at him. Between knowing the reference made with that username and Nagi's knowledge of the general aesthetics Gear used for her avatars... Yeah that was probably her. The avatar being male didn't matter; she absolutely no qualms acting or portraying a guy and in fact used male character in numerous games. Mostly to play against people predispositions. Always entertaining. Approaching her (in the guise of a him) Nagi would stand beside her and speak quietly.
"You're lucky we share a taste in literature dama droog. Glad dying here won't pull a Ludovico on us. That would have been a colossal damn pain in the ass and not something I want to deal with after that shit at the mall."
Nagi would stay beside Gears and teleport when she did to stay near. Despite their competitiveness, they were damned good friends and allies (most of the time, and now seemed likely to be one of them because yay teamwork) and having a guaranteed ally in a world with PVP was always good. That there was a drop item only went to one person was... annoying, but could easily be dealt with; nothing said the item couldn't be transferred, only that it would ever drop once.
Now the question was if he and Gears could find more allies before all hell broke loose from human (gamer) greed?

[For ease, I'll probably refer to "Viddy" the avatar as he from now on. Is still Gidget.]
Viddy gave a nod to Mongoose as he approached, but his attention was captured by the cat girl dancing around. His eyes slowly widened.... and suddenly, he smacked his forehead gently with his hand. "Great..." he muttered.
Looking around at the other classes, he shrugged. "Hey, Mongoose. We have a healer." He pointed over at the cat girl, trying so hard not to fume (or maybe laugh) at the name. But if he called attention to it, then people would wonder why. And that wasn't exactly something Gidget, the person, was comfortable explaining. "Here, kitty kitty..."
Assuming the healer joined them, Viddy would turn towards the door, and nod in its direction. "Milk bar this shit?" he asked Mongoose under his breath. "The three of us?" Once he commented and they were all together, Viddy would lead the way through the gate and into the Holy Lands.
The wind unnerved Gidget the player, and she wasn't entirely sure why, but Viddy the character seemed unruffled. A single drop item? They were trying to make this a race. However, the NPC distinctly did not say that the BOSS would drop the item, only that it WOULD drop. And with traps around, and really only two reliable squishes and a healer, they had to be careful. "Think this through or barrel straight to the boss?" Viddy asked Mongoose, already reaching out to grab DarlinClementine by her collar, expecting her to go running off.

"Hmmmmmeow..."
Clem wondered... before picking two Magic Potions. Then suddenly she found herself teleported! It was when she arrived at the new location she would hear the words "Here Kitty kitty" Clem spun around to see the man with grey hair! That had to be her!
"Merow!"
She would say as she rushed over to the two people standing there.
"Herro! Meow!"
She would say adorably! However, as she was looking around she was grabbed by the scruff!
"Merow!"
She yelped in surprise as she was carried away.

Vivi briefly observed the other players, her red eyes half lidded in disinterest. When she was a bit younger she might’ve found this exciting and perhaps she’d try to socialize. Admittedly, the game was immersive and visually stunning, but she hadn’t been drawn in quite yet. She was more curious about interacting with NPCs than other players out of curiosity as to how well they were programmed.
The group appeared in a field and their host pointed towards a large tomb like building. Vivi started trekking towards it without so much as a thought. Maybe there would be something she could blast over there? She hadn’t gotten to go to the gym today so she needed to get her aggression out somehow.

Post by Dr. Selena Sullivan on Jun 26, 2020 22:12:08 GMT
It seemed Ken Okazaki , too, had not heard of the game. A part of Selena contemplated attempting to steer her friend towards some other form of innocent entertainment, preferably away from the mall, but then felt some sense of guilt. While he had not been particularly invested, his openness was something she admired and often had herself, a quality she prided in herself. It had been well over a decade since her experience and she was an adult now. Would it really hurt to give this whole thing a shot? Certainly, the young doctor had developed more self-control since then. And, ultimately, she did not wish to drag Ken into her insecurities. Upon her friend's question, Selena swallowed and forced a small smile. "Ah, uh... no. Neither do I. This is all new to me. And, ah... I also haven't touched any video games for many years, not since I was a kid."The young doctor decided not to elaborate, partly because it was not the time nor place to do so. She shifted a bit in discomfort the closer they got to the stage. They were really going to do this! Selena tentatively picked a light blue headset, doing her best to keep herself looking cheery and bright to the technician who helped her--much needed help for a woman who had not played any video games since she was a tween--and Ken. With all of her information in the system, Selena momentarily hesitated before taking in a deep breath and putting the visor on. The young woman started off as a rather poor example of a millennial, awkward in her movements and making it rather evident the whole VR-thing was very new to her, but it wasn't too terribly long before she got a handle on the controls. She was a fast learner, after all. Her nerves decreased a little as she found enjoyment in designing her avatar, something she distinctly remembered enjoying in her childhood. While her character model still maintained the classiness Selena often exuded, going for a somewhat ethereal look, she was rather different in appearance. When it came to opting for a name, Selena quirked her brow, contemplating something more creative, but ultimately went with her own. She was still Selena, after all. And the doctor didn't even hesitate when she chose the healer class. She was built towards being a support role! It was a bit disorienting when thrust into what seemed like an entirely new world, and Selena was immediately mesmerized by the technology and marveled at how far games had advanced. The young doctor aptly paid attention, her inner diligent student coming out, and she took note of the alert and stared wide-eyed at the key. Hold on... dungeon?? They weren't going to be walking around and getting a feel for things first? Start off easy? Selena was feeling a bit daunted, especially as it was mentioned there was friendly fire, and she was especially grateful then that she had chosen to be a healer and would presumably keep to the back. Even in a video game format, Selena was not keen on the idea of attacking her teammates and frowned. Before she could ask question, the healer heard her name called and turned towards the source. What she discovered was what Selena could only describe as a child warrior with long hair and purple eyes. Her own blue eyes widened. "K-Ken? Is that... you?"Selena rose her hands to her mouth and suppressed a giggle. "Ah, you are so... so aDORABLE!" And with that, she was unable to hold in her bell-like laughter.

Post by Zade on Jun 26, 2020 23:20:15 GMT
Once the tutorial guide answered Zade's question he then proceeded to demonstrate how the gates and keys corresponded to each other. "It looks like different colored keys bring you to different dungeons?" Zade said to himself as he held out his blue key. He placed the key into his inventory then walked over to the previously mentioned window in order to stock up on health and magic potions. Once he had done so, Zade would approach the gate. "Bring me the horizon!" He said as he activated the key and was teleported
Upon spawning Zade would feel that odd sensation where it feels like your stomach falls. "Ugh, I don't like teleporting" He said. Looking around Zade took in the views for a moment then congregated with the rest of players. "Extremely rare drop huh? You don't say..." Zade's voice trailed off as he took a subtle step back from the other players. He pulled out the bacon whistle and inspected it for a brief moment before returning to his inventory. "Don't know what that whistle does, but when I blow it I hope something good happens." He said as he slowly began to make his way towards the tomb.

"Tch..."
Ayden turned back around. It was onto phase 2. He chose to recreate his avatar from First Fantasy XIV Heavenspath Limited Edition Prime Membership. This game got him feeling a little nostalgic, besides no one who knew who he was could possible be around right? He picked Tank so that he would have the maximum HP possible while grief playing Leon.
Soon a majestic avatar appeared before everyone, equipped with no weapon but a shield. However, quickly a scowl would appear upon his face before all of his armor was unequipped, leaving his avatar in just his underwear, cape, gauntlets, and boots. He quickly went over to a vendor and sold all of the items before buying the strongest sword he could afford with the money.
And then... he just felt to his knees.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN I LACK THE APPROPRIATE SKILL TO EQUIP THIS WEAPON?! AREN'T I A PALADIN OR SOMETHING?!"
Ayden grumbled before taking the key to the gate. He looked around the field, still grumbling as he walked off on his own. He didn't even know what Leon's avatar looked like yet so it would probably be good to grind some levels. Ayden attempted to find monsters.

Post by Ken Okazaki on Jun 27, 2020 4:17:30 GMT
It only took Ken a short bit to realize something was wrong. Everyone else was so big in comparison to him. Maybe his eyes were just having issues adjusting to the VR headset. Eventually he had gotten a response from a silver-haired female and her reaction made him groan slightly. Maybe hitting random on his appearance wasn't the best idea.
"What's so funny, Selena? I think my headset is defective. I feel tiny, damn it."
Ken's little hands would reach up and grab at his big head briefly, in which his avatar name above him simply read 'Ken' Whatever. It wasn't going to matter when he got in his tank, right? He would wave for Selena to follow him as he glanced down at the keycard in his hand. They just had to approach the gate, right?
"I think we should stay together. Are you ready to see what all the hype is about?"
As long as she agreed, Ken would begin to wander his way through the other players like a little field mouse present the key. Within moments he would find himself in a field. He would spin about to take it all in, while listening to the instructions. At this point, he would reach at his back and pull free a kite-shield, almost as big as his avatar and plop the point into the ground and then pull a tiny sword from it's sheath.
"..Wait a second.. Where's my tank?"

Leon's username was 'Spike' and he moved with everyone else through to the dungeon area, noting people already beginning their journey into this new world or hanging back to formulate teams. About when he noticed the smallest heavily armored avatar of the group with the username Ken. He had to wander over to the small one and kneel down into a crouch near him when he asked where his tank was.
"You are the tank. That is your role. You take all the damage and attract all the attention while the healer keeps you alive and the DPS does the damage. Not to say you probably can't dish a fair amount... Okazaki-san~"
He'd stand and give a wave to the female and smile big and wide to show he was friendly.
"Mind if I tag along?"
