Stevie reviewed her notes on Cedric Falcone. He had come in with swollen lymph nodes and a headache. She was sure it was just a cold setting in, but still gave him her full attention anyway.
"Mr. Falcone, Thank you for your patience. Your results just came back from the lab. You tested positive for influenza. I am prescribing Baloxavir Marboxil. You'll take this twice a day by mouth. I recommend plenty of rest. Do you have any questions?"
He shook his head.
"Alrighty then. If your symptoms persist, please come back and see me."
Stevie left the room and gave the prescription to the nurse. She signed the form and took the next file.
"Ok. Who is next, Marcy?"
"In room 3 we have Willow-Rowan Harthe."
Stevie beamed.
"Oh really? Well, it's about time."
Marcy gave an odd look but went back to her paperwork. Stevie started to walk away but stopped and turned around.
"Please remind Mr Falcone that there is a influenza shot he can take to avoid getting sick next time."
Marcy smirked.
"You know he never gets it. We go through this every year."
Stevie sighed.
"I know. But it's still worth a shot. He is getting older and the flu won't be as kind to his system in a few years."
She patted Marcy's arm and headed off for room 3.

Apparently, WR's job came with bi-monthly doctors checkups, which was a normal thing that most people did routinely. This however was completely unheard of to WR. The only time they had EVER seen a doctor was if something was broken or if they were dying. So needless to say, they were both surprised and irritated when they were practically thrown into the doctors office because they refused to get their checkup. They didn't need a doctor to tell them they were fine.
WR waited.
And they waited.
And waited...
...
They had almost fallen asleep when Stevie came into the room, and the surprise on their face was evident. They knew Stevie was a doctor, but somehow it didn't register that they would be sent to her. She was Leon's wife and all.

Stevie knocked on the door and came in, closing it behind her. "Good afternoon, WR. I'm glad to see you. We had a heck of a time getting you in here." She would grin. "How are you feeling today?" Normal questions, but the surprise was still evident on WR's face. "Were you not expecting to see me in my hospital?" Obvious glee mixed with amusement.

"I'm fine, I dunno why I have to be here." They responded grumpily, crossing their arms. They were clad in their normal black and red attire, covering up nearly all spots of their skin barring their face and neck. They were NOT going to be happy if they had to take any of it off, but they supposed that much was inevitable, which made them all the more grumpier.
"Gonna be honest, had no idea this was your place. I wasn't willingly brought here you know." They'd rub their head as they remembered they'd probably end up with a few bruises after that scuffle...

Stevie's smile turned serene. "I'm sorry you didn't want to come, but it is mandatory for all members to have monthly check ups. Especially if they have been fighting." She hesitated, as if realizing something. "If it makes you feel better, I can have someone else look over you. I know we have a personal relationship and I don't want to make it awkward between us." She really did care what WR thought about this. They had never discussed their gender or anything and Stevie really wanted them to be comfortable. She realized the 'sex' was left blank in the paperwork and had urged Marcy to not make it an issue. She would wave the necessity.

"Don't care." They'd say bluntly, staring at the wall. Clearly they did care, but they weren't going to make a big deal about it. They just wanted to be literally anywhere else.
They hated hospitals.

Stevie thrummed the paper and hesitated. "It's not a problem if you want, I can bring Marcy in and she can complete your visit? It will just be routine weight, height, temperature, blood pressure, and checking each limb for mobility and stress, ear canals, lungs, intestines, and uh genitals. Again, I can bring Marcy in at any time." Stevie hadn't moved from near the door.

WR would just sigh deeply, their face flushed at the mention of their genitals.
"Can we just get this over with, please?" They'd finally look up from the wall with pleading eyes.
"We're gonna go through all this just for me to be completely fine and it'll all be for fucking nothing." They'd return their gaze to the wall -- the only thing bringing them any sort of comfort.

Stevie took a deep breath and went about doing the least amount possible, to try and keep WR as comfortable as possible. She slid up their sleeve to do blood pressure, she had WR lay on the 'bed' and checked each of their wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Followed by their ankles and knees. She sat them up and pulled up the back of the shirt slightly, only enough to let Stevie slip her hand under the bottom. "I'm checking your breathing and intestines." She would finish there and move to the ears and temperature. All was fine. Stevie finally had WR stand on the scale and wrote down the result. Then onto the height, jot that down too. She moved back and nodded. "Alrighty. I'll bring in Marcy to do your front lungs, hip joints, and genitalia. I think you might be more comfortable with that?" And if no objections, Stevie would head out and ask Marcy to do the remainder. She would warn Marcy not to talk to them too much as they were extremely uncomfortable. After Marcy was done, Stevie would come back in. "As we thought, nothing is amiss. Thank you for coming in. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to come in again. This will only be a yearly process unless there is an anomoly, like if you get injured, for example." Stevie wasn't sure what else to say to them.

The next few minutes weren't quite as unbearable as WR thought they would be. Oh, they were still pissed, but it wasn't to the degree that it could have been thanks to Stevie's precautions. At least she understood their discomfort, that was all they could really ask of her. Fortunately that Marcy character was brief and easy as well, which calmed WR down a little bit once they were finally done and had everything documented.
All that was left was the end procedure. They were curious if Stevie was going to say anything about it.
"Right, no promises I won't." They'd shrug in the same grumpy tone they'd been living in for the last twenty minutes, adjusting their bomber as a means of avoiding eye contact.

Stevie nodded and forced a laugh. "Right of course. Hey, I get off work in a little under an hour. And you've been really agreeable, considering the circumstances. Can I take you out for ice cream?" And there she was again, assuming the role of a mom.

"Maybe later. I gotta take a few to recharge. Blast my ears with edgy fucking music to forget this ever happened, ya know."
They'd pause for a moment.
"Fuck it, why not. I'll wait in the lobby, mom." They'd emphasize the last part with half a smile, though they still looked considerably irritated.

Stevie felt a buzz at hearing them call her mom. A grin broke over her face and she flushed slightly. "Oh uhm. Alright. You're good to go as soon as you like. Stop by the desk and schedule a visit to get caught up on your shots, dear. You don't have to wait in the lobby if you don't want to. I'm sure I can let you stay in my office if you promise not to go through the files." She'd flash a grin at WR before opening the door.

WR would shrug.
"Can't make any promises if you keep me waiting long. This probably comes as a surprise to you, but I'm not a patient person." They'd grin at her as they slung their things over their shoulder. They were using everything in their power to try and forget about this hospital visit, which included fake smiles and random jokes.

Stevie laughed too. She'd lead the way to the desk and tell the attendant to set WR up with another appointment and then head back to her office with WR trailing. "This is it." She'd say as she threw open the door and then look pointedly at WR. "And I mean it about the files. forty-five minutes. Behave. You can surf the net if ya want." Stevie would bring the laptop to life and unlock it for WR and then head back to the door. "Ok, I'll be back in a few."
