Today Leon was just trying to stay relaxed as he entered the old style jazz cafe he would wave at the bartender/cook. His name was Jeff as far as Leon knew. The guy wore cowboy boots and was definitely from down south, but damn if he didn't make the best pizza and hot chocolate in town. No only that but he brings your order almost instantly. As he waved a hand and found a place to sit the guy on the stage started playing a sad saxophone serenade. Jeff would drop off a hot chocolate at his table and Leon would start sipping through the whip cream. Jeff would then put a tuft of cotton candy on a stand over Leon's hot chocolate to let it melt and drip into his cup like a storm cloud of flavor. The low light atmosphere was only differentiated from Jeff's hyperactive motions and activities.

It was a hobby of Loie's to try different cafes, she used to imagine starting a little blog about different coffee shops in Anthem City. Unfortunately her drive to anything besides school and her job was fading. Everything she'd been through recently really drained her zest for life. No matter where she turned, everything was a nightmare.
Even so, Loie still got herself out of her cramped apartment once in a while to sit at a cafe and do some journaling. This kind of activity used to fuel her with energy, but today her pen just rested against a blank page and her chai latte had gotten cold some time ago. The moment she relaxed, she might see all her dead classmates again. Or the masked man who blasted her with mist in the corner of her vision. Nothing was real.

After his eyes adjusted and he had a few seconds to look around he noticed a girl who he had seen before at a couple of the things that had been happening around town. The investigation never ends it would seem, so he would pick up his hot chocolate set up and move to approach the young woman. He would clear his throat and put on a smile... Whatever good that did with the scars and general appearance he had.
"Excuse me young lady. Would you mind if I sat next to you? I've seen you around town at some of the crazy events that have happened and figured we might have seen different things and it could help put the pieces together if we shared our experiences."
Leon was honest about his reasoning, noting her empty notebook and writing position. He wondered if she were experiencing some sort of block with her writing. Maybe whatever she was trying to write, wasn't what she really wanted to write.

Loie heard a man's voice and it took her a moment to realize he was addressing her. Her hand twitched and she looked up to where he stood. For a second she was worried it was just some random weirdo but she recognized this man from somewhere. His words helped clear things up and she pieced things together. He was there during the gruesome scene in Old Town. If she recalled correctly, he was there with Valo speaking to the woman with the gun.
"That's fine!" she chirped, though she still seemed slightly nervous.
Once he'd taken a seat, Loie would draw her cold mug closer and cast a wary glance around the cafe.
"You've seen the black mist, right? The demon.... that claimed the air?" she asked, remembering what Valo told her the woman said. Loie spoke slowly and quietly all while continuing to look around like she was worried the mist would come pouring out of the ventilation at any moment.

Leon would sip of his cocoa after sitting and hearing her speak. He would nod in response to her question.
"It's more than that. I believe there is a purpose to it. A psycho control mixture as far as I can tell. It's our hypothesis that it's a bio weapon being tested on people in this city if not with the assistance of, but the permission of the government."
Leon would sit there staring forward at nothing. He hated how small he felt in this situation, if he were younger he'd be dismantling a police department or government building right now demanding answers with all the power at his disposal.

Loie studied the man's face. He appeared very collected, but there were still hints that maybe he was as troubled as she was. No one really knew what to do about this situation. She furrowed her eyebrows at his possible explanation. It made sense. Obviously there was no way to confirm it for now, but she would rather have human beings behind the mess than actual demons. Humans were stoppable. But permission of the government? It sounded too insane.
"You think the government gave permission?" she gaped, "What are we supposed to do about something like that...?"
Loie paused to take a breath. She needed to get ahold of her emotions.
"Um... I don't think I introduced myself. I'm Loie Prim. ...How did you come to that conclusion?"

Leon would bow his head at the introduction and the words before responding in kind.
"I am Leon Sudeki, pleasure."
As to his reasoning's for his hypothesis he would sigh deeply and take a big swig of his drink before looking at the young woman.
"Have you seen news about the mall incident? How about the police response? Or the fact that it's business as usual at the mall with a bit of police tape? Absolutely no evidence at all of who was responsible, and anywhere you look no one except people who experienced it to say otherwise. People that went to the hospital were treated like a problem and given the bare minimum of help before they were shuffled off."
He obviously had been looking into things and gathering Intel from multiple sources at this point. He'd been talking to people, having his people look into things, and being present to see things he didn't like in more than one occasion.
"What about the restaurant with all the dead Yakuza members? Haven't heard anything about that since then either, the mutilated bodies, the woman with the shotgun. Nothing."

Loie listened intently to Leon’s words. It felt hard to trust anyone these days, but it was nice to see someone else who knew what she’d experienced. Everyone who hadn’t seen the nightmares hiding in Anthem City thought she was insane when she attempted to explain it, so she stopped trying. Not that she'd wish these terrors on anyone, but people needed to be aware that they existed.
“Those are good points,” Loie replied, “Sometimes I feel like I’m imagining everything, but then I talk to people like you and Mr. Morei…”
Yakuza members? That detail hadn’t clicked for her back when she walked in on that scene. Admittedly, she didn’t know a lot about Japan at all, but she was pretty sure Yakuza were members or organized crime syndicates.
“Yakuza?” She paused for a moment before continuing, “I haven’t heard anything at all. But what are we supposed to do about it if law enforcement’s on their side?”
Loie was sure it was possible for law enforcement to be bought off, but for something like this? She didn’t even know what it was or if they even stood a chance fighting it.

"Wouldn't say on their side, it's impossible for it to be one hundred percent, but the people that matter are definitely profiting in some major way. Corruption at it's finest."
Leon would sip from his drink.
"There are ways to fight back, exposure, speaking out, recording."
He didn't like the idea of involving someone as young as her, but he was even younger when he started facing off against the other street gangs in the city. Though she was tiny, not a trained fighter like he was.
"That's the kind of fighting back you should focus on. Let the old dogs like me deal with the physical fighting."
